Your Kingdom Come

The Kingdom of God is best understood as His rule and reign.

Notice, we pray “Your Kingdom come” not “Your Kingdom go”. This is because we are not somehow trying to escape this world. We want His rule and reign to be expressed on earth just as it is in Heaven. That happens by His will being done.

His will can be understood as “the expression of His love”.

So, we pray, “Our Father in Heaven, the fullness of love is Your name. Your rule and reign come, the expression of Your love be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.”

When we pray this “prayer of knowing we are known” and we understand it is through the lens of love, we start to see the simple focus on His love provides an infinitely expressing way of hope and mercy. This produces a much needed way of understanding this God sees in secret and knows what we need.
