Yei, South Sudan Classroom Construction Update
In our last journal entry, we told you about our plans to move the Nehemiah secondary school from miles away onto the campus of our long-time partners at the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC) in Yei, South Sudan. Moving the Nehemiah secondary school will unite the younger children already in the primary school there with their older counterparts.
The need to fund construction of eight new classrooms is our most important project as we finish out the first quarter of 2019. Classroom construction will be necessary to accommodate the expanding number of both primary and secondary students as they learn and grow together within the security of the EPC campus.
According to a new report produced through the Global Initiative on out-of-school children in the world, two million children in South Sudan are not receiving an education – representing one of the highest rates of out-of-school children in the world. God in His grace has put His Voice Global in a position to help with the education of those He has placed in our care in Yei, South Sudan.
The good news is that we are making great progress towards our goal of $151,200 to construct those eight classrooms! To date, we have received $50,000, which has allowed us to begin construction. Take a look at our video to see the progress.
As you consider how you might be able to help with this need, please know that we are continually encouraged by your partnership, and that you are making a real impact on the lives of students and communities with your gift and your prayers.
Gratefully,
