Ministry Continues in Kenya
Over the past 10 years I’ve had the privilege to work alongside Rift Valley Hope (formally, Rift Valley Fellowship) on the ground in Maai Mahiu more than 10 times. They have become like family to me and traveling to visit and work with them has become my favorite part of my job.
I love the RVH staff so much, they are the most prayerful, hard-working, and persevering people that I know. As I have talked to Isaac the past few weeks it’s not surprise to me that they have treated this situation with the care and diligence they treat their everyday lives in Maai Mahiu.
Two of their biggest priorities right now are making sure 1) the kids continue with education and bible study and 2) the RVH families in Maai Mahiu are fed and taken care of at this time.
The rescue center caretakers love and care for our kids as if they were their own and this situation has, I’m sure, only made that connection stronger. They have been working with the schools to make sure the kids have school work so they don’t fall behind and can continue their education. They’ve been leading prayer and Bible studies with the kids at both rescue centers. And although I am sure the kids miss their friends at school, they are thriving amidst this very unusual time.
Several of the staff have been working to make sure they can deliver food packages and take care of essential needs of the RVH families in town. With the shelter in place and recent rains this is no small task for the few staff that can help. As they take caution and use social distancing practices they have been packaging and delivering food every couple of weeks to several homes.
Because of obvious travel restrictions, I’m not sure if I will get to see my friends in Maai Mahiu this year but I know that I can help from home by giving financially when I can and continuing to join them in prayer for their safety, the health of their country and continued provisions to take care of the families and kids. I hope that you will join me in that prayer over this month.
I look forward to the day when I get to see my RVH family again, and maybe bring some of you along too! Thank you for you support and prayers during this time. I pray that they Lord keeps you and those close to you safe and provides abundantly in this time.
