His Voice Global August Newsletter
Back to School!
At His Voice Global, our Thrive program provides financial and relational support as students pursue a formal education. In addition to supporting younger students in Kenya, we also empower college-aged students from South Sudan and Uganda to pursue degrees from universities or technical schools.
Did you know that only 40% of seven year-old girls in South Sudan are in school and only 1.3% of sixteen year-old girls are in secondary school or beyond? But, because of your gifts to our Thrive program, we are changing these numbers!Changing the world is not an impossible dream. Watch the video below as Co-Founder Amber Burger explains.
If you would like to be a part of this change, one way is to help sponsor one of our students. Click here to see some student profiles and read more about how you can get involved for as little as $50 per month!
Thrive Student: Bida!
Meet Bida.
Bida was born in December and lost both parents at a very early age. He grew up at Rock the Desert primary school in Morobo, South Sudan. In 2014, he began attending Nehemiah Orphanage Secondary School. At NOSS, Bida was reunited with his 4 biological brothers and also found a love for serving in the NOSS clinic on his off hours.
Five years later, Bida moved to Arua, Uganda to be a part of the Thrive program. He is currently attending Clarke International University in Kampala. Because Bida enjoyed helping at the NOSS clinic he chose to study public health and has decided to focus in medical laboratory science! This summer he worked at an internship in a laboratory at hospital in Kampala.
He likes art, playing volleyball and watching Chelsea futbol. Burgers are his favorite food.
Bida is so thankful for this opportunity to continue his education with His Voice Global. Thank you for your support and prayers. To personally support Bida or any of our other students, visit our Thrive Sponsorship website.
Vehicle Update!
Many of you have asked how we are doing on our summer fundraising project, which is to purchase a second vehicle capable of reaching the vulnerable in remote northern Uganda. You may have heard Mike and Megan Elkins talk about this need as they traveled around parts of the U.S. this summer. If not, you can hear Mike explain why this need is so critical by clicking here to watch a short video. Currently we are about $60,000 short of the $80,000 needed to buy this vehicle, but there is still time for you to help!
Thank you for your support of His Voice Global! It is a joy to serve those God has given to us with you!
