A Time of Renewal

If you have been following along with our social media and website journal posts recently, you know that we have been discussing some lessons learned in the first half of 2020.

Mark Semmelbeck, the Chairman of our Board of Directors started us off by outlining four areas of emphasis in this very unusual year. We have spent some time this month reflecting upon:

  1. The importance of faith in the face of uncertainty

  2. The importance of following the Lord’s leading in our planning process

  3. The importance of recognizing God as the source of our provision

  4. The importance of renewal as we do the work God has given us

Today’s post is related to the renewal of our spirits during what can be a very dispiriting time. When your well-laid plans are altered or maybe downright cancelled, it is easy to become discouraged.

We did not plan for two of our three missionary families to be out of Uganda when the coronavirus necessitated travel restrictions that kept them from returning to their homes on the mission field in Uganda. The remaining family in Uganda, the Harpers, did not plan on inheriting the responsibility for all of our quarantined students. The students themselves did not plan on being quarantined long enough to “celebrate” 100 days of quarantine! The same can be said of the students in our care in Kenya. We did not plan on being restricted from teaching additional classes from our Foundation of Hope curriculum to aid in making more disciples of Jesus in East Africa.

As a result, it became clear to us that the Lord was leading us as an organization to use this unique time seeking renewed spirits for the task at hand. After all, the goal of His Voice Global is to “Restore, Rebuild, and Renew” relationships and communities in which we serve! But how does one go about “renewing”? Ultimately, the answer is to take the time to connect with our Heavenly Father and recommit ourselves individually and as a team to obedience to Him.

As we enter the second half of 2020, our prayer is for hearts that are sensitive to the leading of God’s Spirit and ready to act in obedience to His direction. We are so grateful to you for your continued partnership in this work. Know that we are praying for you and your family to feel God’s presence and a sense of renewed purpose in your life as you follow Him.

Relationships Restored. Communities Renewed.
