A Time of Provision

Do you ever take God’s provision for granted?

The first half of the year 2020 has not been anything like we envisioned, has it? Early in the year we began to hear about this virus coming out of Wuhan, China. But, China is roughly 7500 miles away Texas and 6000 miles away from East Africa.

So, we carried on as normal, excited about the new year and what it might bring. Not in our wildest dreams did we envision a pandemic, much less something called a murder hornet!

When March came, one of our missionary families, the Wards went on vacation to South Africa. Another, the Elkins, went to Midland, Texas to speak at one of our partner churches there. That weekend in March was when the dominos began to fall and “social distancing” and “virtual meetings” began to be a part of our lives. The Wards and the Elkins, by the way, were now stuck and unable to return to their ministry in Uganda.

“Shelter in Place” was not just going on in the U.S., of course. Our students in Uganda were sequestered as were the boys and girls in our care in Maai Mahiu, Kenya. In Kenya, there was a need for additional food, additional manpower to be with the children, and additional technology and teachers to continue our ministry there. All of this at a time when the world economy seemed to be crashing all around us and there seemed to be a cry for help from every corner of the globe. Including the United States.

It was natural to ask the question: “Would God Provide?”

As we would soon learn at His Voice, the answer was a resounding “Yes!” One of my favorite lessons in life has been to find out where God is moving and join in with Him there. God is moving in the ministry of His Voice Global.

In short order, a friend of our ministry arranged for the Ward family to stay in a South African home, free of charge, until they were able to travel back to the U.S. with assistance from the U.S. Embassy. The Elkins have been able to keep in touch with their team and use this time for some much needed planning and restoration. You, our donors and partners have been amazing in your financial support, as we are well on our way to meeting the financial shortfall that was a threat to the ministry in Kenya.

As a result, as we near the half-way point in the year, God has provided 90% of our 2019 giving, Year-To-Date. Could the second half of the year be a challenge? Yes, it probably will be. But, God is at work at His Voice Global, and we have confidence He will provide. As you seek His face during this time and ask Him how and where you should spend your treasures and your time, know that we are praying that you would find His will and provision for your life.

As for me and my house, I say “Bring on the Murder Hornets”. If God is for us, who can be against us!

My best through God’s grace,
