Joining our staff as a Family Mentor is an immersive and life changing experience for your entire family. His Voice Global wants to be a trampoline for the populations we work with, giving them the care and foundation they need to bounce onto something greater.

Our Family Mentors commit to living overseas for three years to be the hands and feet of Jesus to university students in the Thrive program. Meeting with and caring for students each week as they transform into leaders will change both your lives and theirs.

What is a Family Mentor?

Family mentors are godly family centric adults who provide a Christ-honoring, safe, and loving home where holistic discipleship can take place. Family Mentors will implement our circle of care to our college students from South Sudan while in universities or tech schools in Uganda.

Where is His Voice Global located in Uganda?

We are located in Arua, which is located in Northwest Uganda.

Is there a time commitment I would need to make?

Family Mentors must commit to a minimum of 3 years to provide some degree of consistency with the students under their care.

Do I have to raise support?

Yes, you raise your support for your salary.
HVG provides the following benefits to help:

  • Rent for housing and proportionate share of utilities for food will be covered by HVG
  • Costs incurred on behalf of Thrive Program students will be reimbursed
  • Paid vacation

  • **Insurance premiums from a qualified provider can be deducted pre-tax

Do I need to go through training?

Yes. His Voice Global will provide pre-field and on-field training.

Do I have to be married?

No.

Can Family Mentors have children?

Yes.

Is there a school for our children?

At this time, there are no international schools in our area. Most families homeschool or bring in a teacher to help with homeschool. Boarding school options are available for older children.

How many students would I be responsible?

Average is usually 6-8 students ages 18-26.

What does a family mentor home look like?

Usually homes have separate quarters for family mentors and students with perimeter fencing/walls.

How will I get around?

Family Mentors are asked to purchase their own personal vehicle. Our staff on the ground will help navigate this process. Family Mentors will need to get a Ugandan Drivers License.
